Local brands sweetened our quarantine
Given the need for social distancing, along with all the safety precautions implemented to halt the spread of COVID, we didn’t get to really enjoy something we had a lot of the past few years—chef collaborations, pop-ups and four-hands dinners.
But making the most out of the situation, what we did indulge in this year were brand collaborations, most of them by local ice cream brands. Here are three I highly recommend.
Banana Cue Ice Cream by Hapag x Lost Bread
In line with their aim to promote Filipino cuisine, the chefs of Hapag collaborated with The Lost Bread and Auro chocolates to come up with a line of ice cream inspired by Pinoy sweet snacks. There’s espasol, banana cue and champorado.
Signature Cheese Tart Gelato by Kumori x Manila Creamery
It’s exactly how you imagine it to be. Kumori’s bestselling tart turned into a frozen treat. Launched last October, the creamy concoction comes as cheese gelato studded with crumbled tart base.
Kohi Cream Ice Cream by Kurimu x Yardstick Coffee
Kurimu is the new ice cream brand by husband and wife Bryan and Maxine Kong, launched last September. After introducing their maiden range, they released this item, which is infused with Yardstick’s famous Golden Ticket blend.
