The Purple Wok’s Melt-In-Your-Mouth US Angus Roast Beef
My cousin couldn’t celebrate with me on my birthday, but she sent love in the most delicious way: by ordering trays of The Purple Wok’s Melt-In-Your-Mouth US Angus Roast Beef. It was a hit—obsession at first bite. Many people have declared this the best roast beef they’ve tasted, and I have to agree—and I’ve had a lot of good roast beef in my life.
The Purple Wok’s roast beef comes with au jus, basic gravy, truffle gravy and garlic confit in red wine—all absolutely delicious. But this flavorful roast beef can stand on its own, it’s so good even without any sauce. I’ve eaten it on its own and with rice, and I hogged the leftovers and used them in pandesal sandwiches. The leftovers are gone and I already miss eating this roast beef, so I’ve just placed an order for another tray.
The Purple Wok’s Melt-In-Your-Mouth US Angus Roast Beef comes in four sizes—sharing (good for three), family (good for four to five), party (good for six to 10) and feast (good for 10 to 15). Side dishes include creamy garlic mashed potato, roasted herbed vegetables and garlic rice. The Purple Wok also offers soups, salads, premium gambas al ajillo, paella negra with clams and mussels in white wine, cheesy meat lasagna and premium embotido.

Golden Crumb Manila’s Banana Pecan Cranberry Bread
What started as a quarantine craving for Gold Jacinto and her sisters has become a successful food business.
“We decided to experiment and put together some ingredients which we thought might work together,” Jacinto said. “We weren’t planning to make a business out of it, but as we shared banana bread loaves with friends and family whom we couldn’t see because of the lockdown, we kept getting such good feedback and decided, why not try selling them online?”
They sold 1,000 boxes of their Banana Pecan Cranberry Bread in less than a month. But that’s not surprising. It’s easy to get addicted to Golden Crumb Manila’s Banana Pecan Cranberry Bread. In our house, our first loaf disappeared in less than an hour, and I ordered a second one that same day.
There really is something special about it that sets it apart from the sea of banana bread already available in the market. The pecan and cranberries add a decadent touch, and we love that the loaves come perfectly presliced.
“It’s been compared to the famous Baguio Country Club banana bread,” said Jacinto. Their long list of clients include Sharon Cuneta and Angel Locsin. This month, they also introduced Florentine Lace Cookies in Dark, Hazelnut and Mint, which are also delightful. “They’re best consumed frozen,” Jacinto said.

Cheese Tart Gelato by Kumori X Manila Creamery; S’Mores Tart by Kumori X Theo & Philo
Japanese bakery Kumori has been collaborating with local brands to create delicious new treats.
There’s the Signature Cheese Tart Gelato, the result of a partnership between Kumori and Filipino gelato brand Manila Creamery. This limited-edition offering is the yummy combination of white cheddar and cream cheese gelato mixed with Kumori’s famous tart shells. (It’s so good to dig into a pint while binge-watching a show.) Then there’s the Signature S’mores Tarts, which Kumori created with Filipino artisan chocolate company Theo & Philo. For their version of the classic campfire treat, they filled Kumori’s crunchy tart shells with Theo & Philo’s Single Origin 65 percent Dark Chocolate ganache and then topped it with torched marshmallow.

Baked Sisig by Baked Sisig
Friends and family members had always loved Yuan Dumandan’s mom’s sisig. “At every gathering, it was always a hit,” Dumandan said.
After witnessing the baked sushi craze, Yuan’s mom Girlie had an idea: Why not baked sisig? And so she layered her popular dish over Japanese rice and a new favorite was born.
Baked Sisig’s Baked Sisig isn’t just named after the baked sushi craze—that’s actually how they cook their dish. “It’s not deep-fried like most sisig variations; we bake the sisig. This takes out a lot of oil and grease in the process, making our sisig a lighter take on the traditional Filipino sisig,” the younger Dumandan said. “Less oil, less grease and less guilt—it doesn’t feel heavy or nakakahilo.”They source all their ingredients from their local market in Marikina. “Our products do not contain any preservatives, MSG or extenders. Our sisig is made from 100-percent pure pig’s head, chicken liver, fresh onions, calamansi, garlic and chili.”You can choose to order the Baked Sisig or the Sisig a la Carte, which is the same good sisig without rice. For dessert, Baked Sisig serves Thai Mango Sticky Rice.
