Hand-painted cakes, fruit arrangements, entremet and sans rival—there are so many ways to make your mother’s dessert dreams come true
Mothers deserve the best. That’s why on their special day, surprise them with some of the metro’s most decadent and delicious cakes and pastries. Be it adorned with flowers, stacked high or loaded with chocolate, the sinful items on this curated list will surely have moms swooning with sweetness.

Hand-painted cake from BBakery (@bbakeryph)
Baker Geraldine Santiago’s Lychee Rose Cake is a stunner, with whole lychees beautifully encased in glossy jelly sitting on top of a light sponge cake base. But it’s her hand-painted and sculpted cakes that will definitely melt mom’s heart, considering the artistry, time and labor spent on making each one. Colorful flowers adorn soft chiffon cake that sandwiches a layer of cream frosting lined with strawberries.

Caring Mama Fruit Arrangement from Fruits in Bloom (@fruitsinbloom)
Flowers are fragrant and nice, but edible bouquets are sweet (literally!) and more satisfying. Fruits in Bloom lets you surprise your mom with an arrangement of sugar cookies and fruits that have been garbed in chocolate. It’s held steadily in a pot and kept in a gift box, making it practical and beautiful to be given as a gift.

Hawaiian Paradise by Homemade by Roshan (@homemadebyroshan)
Here’s a delicious and refreshing taste of the tropics. “The concept is like sending mom on a vacation, but in cake form,” says popular home baker Roshan Samtani. It’s like she scoured the islands, Hawaii in particular, for produce and put them all in a single confection. The cake is made with bananas, pineapple and macadamia nuts. It’s frosted with cream cheese, then filled and topped with caramel, coconut and more nuts.

Emelie from Flour Pot (@flourpotmanila)
A delicious ode to chef Rhea Castro’s mom, this naked cake shows off our local produce. Batangas free-range eggs and Cavite organic butter are used to produce the vanilla sponge cake, and for the filling, a velvet red preserve using sampinit from Laguna, and buttercream dotted with fresh mangoes from Ilocos Sur. It is capped with a bouquet of local carnation and statice flowers.

Cupid’s Strawberry Cake from Butternut Bakery (@butternutmnl)
They offer a lot of cakes—from the five-layer Brazo de Mercedes to White Chocolate Tres Leches—but choosing their limited edition can definitely make your present extra special. Cupid’s Strawberry Cake combines soft and pillowy vanilla sponge with rich strawberry compote. It is topped off with flowers and a medley of berries.Death by Chocolate from Masa Madre Bakehouse (@masamadrebakehouse)
Laminated dough has become a most welcome option for satiating our sweet cravings in the metro. Masa Madre has always done a good job with that with their seasonal offerings. Case in point: their Mother’s Day Specials, which includes the Death by Chocolate. Fashioned into a gift box, this pastry celebrates chocolate in various forms—ganache, fudge brownie and pastry cream.Mango Sans Rival from

Sweet Success (@sweetsuccess888)
The latest addition to this brand’s sans rival series sheds the spotlight on the summer fruit our country has become quite known for—mangoes! The towering cake is composed of multiple layers of cake, buttercream frosting, and sweet and tangy mangoes. Hidden in the middle is crispy meringue, consequently producing bites that offer contrast in texture.

Mango Entremet from Leonisa’s Kitchen (@leonisaskitchen)
This home-based pastry brand has two offerings for Mother’s Day. The cream puffs, something they have become recognized for, come in two variants for this special occasion: white chocolate raspberry and blueberry cheesecake. And then there’s the stunning yellow entremet made of mango cream cheese mousse, baked cheesecake, mango compote, fresh mango chunks, butter Graham base and chocolate glaze.

Cake Away from Workshop (@workshop_ph)
Is your mom busy and always on the go? Even so, she still deserves some sweets, and with the Workshop’s latest line, that’s possible. The Cake Away is a layered dessert in a see-through can. There are four varieties to choose from: peach mango shortcake, banoffee, Kitkat and the collaboration with The Matcha Tokyo, matcha strawberry.
Ruby Blossom Cake from Kumori (@kumoriph)
Moms who will receive this will perhaps blush, much like the ombré cake. Dressed in shades of pink and crowned with flowers, this Mother’s Day exclusive hides three simple components that add up to a satisfyingly good dessert—almond dacquoise on the base, vanilla bean mousse on top, and in between, decadent ruby crumble that adds texture to every bite.
